Music Lessons In Your Home Music To Go! has been offering music lessons in the home since 1994. A family business, we have dedicated ourselves to making the study of music accessible and fun and to keeping the Arts Alive. At this time we offer private lessons in piano, guitar and composition for the areas of Livermore, Dublin and Pleasanton. Teaching Philosophy We believe the study of music should be a pleasure! Music is a gift that can help us transform the difficulties of daily life. Most popular courses of study are fine (Alfred, Bastien, Mel Bay et al) so if you're already using a particular lesson book/series, no need to run out for all new material. In fact, we encourage recycling music/lesson books and even instruments among our families. Scales and basic theory will be painlessly covered and music composition encouraged! If you have a song in your heart, we will help you to get that out onto your instrument! Most important is that the music student be able to play the music that inspires him or her! Basic Teaching Format A basic lesson plan would include following a beginner lesson book, theory workbook, Classical Themes, Popular or Favorites themes, - and your teacher can also provide personal arrangements which can be done for most anything that is not readily available in a sheet music level to suit your needs - keeping in mind that something like Flight of the Bumblebee is not easily simplified and would likely take a few years of study! However, if you want to learn the themes from Pirates of the Caribbean or the Nutcracker, those types of things are generally possible fairly early on in the course of your lessons. Apple/Mac Garageband Music students with Apple/ Mac laptops and the Garageband software have such wonderful opportunities to take their music to the next level - whether by recording themselves, adding tracks to their music, doing some fairly sophisticated editing, and of course with a click of the mouse they can send their music to iTunes or email to friends. As a special project, it's great fun to create your own CDs to give as gifts or just to create musical diary recording your progress. We love Macs! Recitals We have yearly recitals which are optional as we understand that not every musician is a performer. The recitals are hosted by one of our families in their home. We all bring Treats to share and the atmosphere is relaxed and casual! Basic lessons start at half hour. We also offer 45 minute and hour lessons which would be at our lower family rates. Seniors and Adults are always welcome - ! Update 2009 recital hosts are Gena and Steve Zevanove - date to follow. The Adult recital has been canceled. Music To Go!
